The narrator introduces a young regular girl named Tress who grows up on an isolated island known as Diggen's Point (also dubbed as The Rock), which lies near Verdant Lunagrees, located in the middle of the Emerald Sea. Tress thus stows away on a ship and sails across the deadly Midnight Sea full of pirates to look for the Sorceress. However, Charlie's father takes him on a voyage to find a bride, and the ship is caught in danger.
